This Web site will in many instances require some work on your part. You will have to look up Scriptures and prove to your satisfaction with your Bible that what is being said in the studies posted on this site is true or not.
Why?
Because the Bible tells us that many false prophets have gone out into the world (1John 4:1) and that there would be some that would arise right within the congregations of God’s one true Church (Acts 20:30). The Bible also indicates that when false prophets come in among congregations of truly converted Christians, it is the many who follow them (2Pe 2: 1-2) and most likely lose their salvation.
This is why the God commands true Christians to prove all things with their Bible; they are not to put their trust in any man no matter how much they may hold him in high regard.
Paul, who was an apostle personally trained by Christ, clearly told the congregations he had raised up to only follow him as he followed Christ (1 Cor 11:1). How would they know if he was? They would check out what he said with their Bible. In the book of Revelation, we read of God complimenting Ephesian Era Christians for having verified against their Bible the teachings of men calling themselves apostles and having found them to be liars and not having followed them.
Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
No man is so trustworthy that we can or should fully trust them and uncritically follow all their teachings.
It follows then that YOUR mission as a Christian is to prove all things and NOT immediately reject anything that doesn’t fit your current beliefs; if the Bible supports it, then you are to believe it. BUT, you have to personally do the work of studying into the matter with your Bible; no other man can do it for you.
Some of the information provided on this Web site is derived from the teachings of Mr. Armstrong, the Pastor General of the Worldwide Church of God who died in January of 1986. Did he have all the truth? No; and he said so himself.
Did he intentionally act in bad faith and in such a way as to knowingly and willfully mislead people? The many truths that he gave the Church and that can be proved with your Bible, and his insistence that nobody take him at his word but prove everything he taught with their Bible leads me to believe that he did not act in such a way.
Did he make mistakes in what he taught? Yes, he said so himself.
Did he change erroneous teachings when he realized he had been wrong?
Yes, he did.
Does that mean all Mr. Armstrong said and wrote should be accepted as absolute truth? No, God commands us to prove all things. Mr. Armstrong may have made other errors he had not discovered before his death; he was just a man.
We are to follow teachings from men ONLY after having proven with our Bible that it is the truth; and if a previously accepted teaching turns out to have been in error, then we are not to go on believing it no matter who taught it.
Mr. Armstrong always and repeatedly said: “Don’t believe me, believe your Bible.” All heard Him but not many acted accordingly. When Mr. Armstrong died, they simply looked for another man to follow. They weren’t proving what he taught, they placed their trust in him and simply unquestionably and uncritically believed all he said.
We are not to completely reject all the teachings of a man because some of it contained some errors. Of course, if just about every doctrine is found to be grossly erroneous then we should not waste too much of our time trying to sort things out.
This is the challenge facing all true Christians; PROVE all things, KEEP what is good. You just can’t put your trust in a man and then relax and follow all he says.
The information posted on this site contains truth you must prove with your Bible before accepting it. References to chapters and verses are given in support of all that is said. Your task is to check them out and decide for yourself whether what is said is true or not.
Don’t trust any man but do PROVE all things and do KEEP what is good.
